Agoura Football Beats Thousand Oaks for First Time in 21 Years

The Chargers victory over the Lancers on Friday night ended a two-decade losing streak.

Agoura High beat Thousand Oaks on Friday night for the first time since 2005, shutting out the Lancers 33-0 at Charger Stadium and snapping an 18-game losing streak in the series, [the Ventura County Star is reporting](https://www.vcstar.com/story/sports/high-school/football/2026/09/05/agoura-football-beats-thousand-oaks-for-the-first-time-in-21-years/91560920007/).

"It's been a very long time," said senior George Hastings, who pointed out he wasn't alive the last time Agoura won the matchup. "I'm just proud that we're able to say now that we've done that and beaten Thousand Oaks during my time here."

Junior quarterback Kris Carranza, in just his third game with the team, completed 18 of 24 passes for 335 yards and five touchdowns. Hastings piled up 145 yards from scrimmage and a touchdown, plus six tackles and a forced fumble on defense. Murphy Glynn and Anderson Mercer caught two touchdowns apiece.

The win came a week after Agoura was routed 38-7 by Westlake. Head coach Dustin Croick said the game plan was simply to get back to the Chargers' own system, and stop worrying about the other side.

"Like I said last week, we kind of needed a butt kicking to wake up a little," Croick said. "It happened."

Agoura scored on its third offensive snap, a 64-yard pass from Carranza to Mercer, and led 21-0 at the half. It was the first time the Chargers have shut out Thousand Oaks since 1979.

The Lancers, who beat Hueneme in double overtime a week earlier, were held to 159 yards of offense. "At the end of the day, we're so young," Thousand Oaks coach Branden Anderson said. "We're growing every weekend."

Agoura (2-1) hosts Rio Mesa on Thursday, while Thousand Oaks (1-2) hosts Newbury Park.
