Auto Row is Calabasas’ Biggest Business. Drivers Can’t Find It.

The city is exploring signage.

“Auto Row” is Calabasas’ biggest source of sales tax revenue. Still, some dealers say, attracting customers can be an uphill battle. Customers can’t find them.

The issue made its way to the [Calabasas City Council](youtube.com/watch?v=T4ZINi7Jdd8&list=PLK_n_5OLuRnfUNwg0Vo9YOksfQpvZphDN&index=1&t=29s) last week. The five dealerships sit on Calabasas Rd. just off the 101 freeway, but aren’t visible from the freeway until after the Calabasas Parkway exit.

"Somebody that passes them might end up going to Woodland Hills and never come back to Calabasas," Councilmember Peter Kraut said.

The dealerships already get more generous signage than any other business in the city, including 25-foot monument signs where other commercial properties are capped at 10 feet.

The City Council directed staff to pursue a shared monument sign promoting the auto dealerships along Calabasas Road, and to ask Caltrans about "auto mall, next exit" wayfinding signs on the 101.
