BJ Novak's 'Chain' Pop-Up Coming to Topanga Mall
The Office star's fast-food concept will take over the mall's food hall for at least six months, part of a broader reboot after most of its vendors shuttered this spring.

Chain, the fast-food concept from "The Office" star B.J. Novak, will open its first long-term residency at the Westfield Topanga mall in Canoga Park next month, [Eater is reporting](https://la.eater.com/).
Beginning Sept. 2 at Topanga Social, the mall's sprawling food hall, the residency will feature dishes from four celebrated chefs: Roy Choi, Mason Hereford, Mei Lin and Calvin Eng. Chain will also partner with General Mills on a menu of snacks and desserts built around the brand's cereals.
Launched as a parking-lot pop-up [reimagining nostalgic fast-food and chain restaurant favorites](https://www.eater.com/24152229/chain-pop-up-hollywood-celebrities-taco-bell-pizza), Chain has since grown into a full-fledged lifestyle brand, with a [permanent space in Virgil Village](https://la.eater.com/2024/1/17/24037032/chain-restaurant-bj-novak-chef-tim-hollingsworths-fast-food-pop-up-opening) hosting pop-ups and collaborations.
The residency comes amidst a wholesale reboot of Topanga Social. Opened to considerable fanfare in 2023, the food hall had [lost most of its vendors](https://ktla.com/news/local-news/topanga-social-food-hall-collapse/) by early May. In June, Westfield announced an all-new lineup of food stalls and entertainment, set to open on a rolling basis, including Umari Hand Roll Bar, Ozzy's Apizza and Pompadour Café.
