Drivers were reportedly swerving to avoid flames in a travel lane.

A burning object in a travel lane prompted a fire response on the northbound 101 Freeway in Thousand Oaks around 6 p.m. tonight. Callers reported an item on fire in the middle lane just south of Hampshire Rd., forcing vehicles to swerve around it.

Fire units were dispatched to the scene.
