Driver Dies in Tree Crash

The Westlake Blvd. median has been the site of multiple fatalities.

A 55-year-old man died yesterday morning after his car slammed into a tree on Westlake Boulevard in Thousand Oaks.

The crash occurred around 4:23 a.m. on Westlake Boulevard near Cascade Avenue, not far from the North Ranch Shopping Center, the Ventura County Star is reporting.

Traffic investigators determined the driver, Anthony Whiteside, of Sherman Oaks, had veered onto the median before striking the tree.

Paramedics performed lifesaving measures at the scene before transporting Whiteside to Los Robles Regional Medical Center, where he died shortly after arriving.

The crash remains under investigation, and it's unclear what caused Whiteside to veer off the road.

The tree-lined median on Westlake Boulevard has been the site of multiple fatal crashes over the years, including two deaths within a single month in 2022, according to The Acorn.
