Every Food Truck in Malibu Cited After Enforcement Sweep

The sweeping raid included officers from agencies like the Department of Public Health and County Treasurer.

In Malibu at lunchtime, it’s rare not to see a food truck. Parked along PCH or to the side of thin neighborhood roads, the classic step trucks, sometimes called loncheras, have been serving a customer base made up largely of local and immigrant workers for years.

But yesterday around noon, many of those trucks were notably absent, following a [multi-agency enforcement sweep](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WVUdjAOUiTw&utm_source=www.stringermalibu.com&utm_medium=newsletter&utm_campaign=malibu-stringer-3-25-26) across Malibu that ended with every truck receiving a citation.

The operation, which focused on trucks parked on Point Dume, Cavalleri and Winding Way, included officials from a range of agencies, City Manager Joe Irvin said during last night’s City Council meeting.

Officials with the county Department of Public Health and County Treasurer joined the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s office in a day-long inspection of trucks across Malibu.

It’s unclear how many trucks were inspected. But Irvin said each one received at least one citation, officials finding none were operating with proper county business licenses. Those citations can result in a range of penalties, from fines to being shut down.

A follow-up operation is reportedly scheduled for Thursday.
