An injured hiker was rescued by helicopter from a rural stretch of Topanga State Park this morning, after an expansive response that included offroad vehicles and trail buggies.
Rescue operations were deployed just after 10 a.m. this morning, after an initial call of a lost hiker in the park near Mulholland Dr. The male hiker, who hasn't been ID'd yet, was soon determined to actually be located in Sullivan Canyon, in a rural stretch of the park with heavy brush and timber.
Offroad vehicles designed for the terrain were sent to the area, but were ultimately unable to reach the hiker. Around 11 a.m., a helicopter was finally able to reach the hiker, rescuing them with a hoist.
They were described as mobile and conscious.
