Hiker Rescued from Malibu Creek State Park

A 57-year-old man reportedly experienced heat exhaustion.

A hiker suffering from heat exhaustion prompted a search and rescue response at Malibu Creek State Park this afternoon.

Malibu Search and Rescue units were dispatched to the park just after 4 p.m., following reports of a 57-year-old man having trouble breathing, with potential heat exhaustion.

State Parks personnel reportedly reached the patient near the Crags Rd. trail, after which a rescue helicopter was canceled in favor of a ground advanced life support unit.

A squad, engine and battalion crew were on scene for the remote-area rescue.
