Palisades Village Reopening August 15

Pacific Palisades - Palisades Village finally has a reopening date, ending more than a year and a half of anticipation over one of the Palisades' biggest post-fire milestones.

Rick Caruso announced on Instagram Wednesday that his luxury shopping center will reopen the morning of August 15, following more than $100 million in renovations.

While the outdoor mall famously survived the Palisades Fire, thanks in part to private firefighters Caruso deployed around the property, the buildings required extensive remediation to remove contaminants left behind by smoke and ash. Crews reportedly stripped structures down to the studs, treating the wood before rebuilding walls and interiors.

The center reopens 99% leased. Most of the original tenants are returning, including Erewhon, which may be the only grocery store in the central Palisades when it opens. Nearly a third of the businesses will be new, including Nancy Silverton's Italian steakhouse Spacca Tutto.

The Village is also set to become a lifeline for local businesses that burned down elsewhere in the fire, with neighborhood staples like Loomey's Toys, K Bakery and fashion designer Elyse Walker's flagship all relocating to the center.

Returning restaurant Angelini Ristorante & Bar, meanwhile, is planning a decidedly muted comeback. "We won't do a big celebrity open," chef Gino Angelini told the Los Angeles Times, saying a splashy party wouldn't feel right amidst the community's ongoing recovery.
