Malibu Police Chase Ends With Suspect in Ocean

A foot pursuit ended in the surf off Will Rogers State Beach Thursday morning, after a wanted man ran into the ocean to escape arresting officers.

The incident began around 7:20 a.m. near PCH in east Malibu, when LAPD officers attempted to contact a felony warrant suspect. Instead, the man fled on foot, ultimately jumping into the ocean in an attempt to evade capture.

A standoff followed, with officers monitoring the suspect from the sand. Aerial footage [captured the man](https://www.foxla.com/news/will-rogers-state-beach-pursuit), reportedly pantless, in the water, where he briefly struggled with lifeguards before being taken into custody.

The suspect's name hasn't been released, and it's unclear what his warrant was for.
