Outage Leaves 1,400+ Malibu, Thousand Oaks Residents Without Power

Faulty SCE equipment appears to be the source.

1,400 homes in Malibu and Thousand Oaks are without power today, after issues with SCE equipment.

The first outage was reported in west Malibu this morning, with 711 homes from Trancas to the hills just above County Line losing power just after 10 a.m. Half an hour later, approximately 688 homes in Thousand Oaks, near the Civic Arts Plaza, reported losing power as well.

Power was still out as of noon today, with no approximate turn-on time yet from SCE.

It's unclear what caused the outages, which don't appear to be linked, although reports seem to indicate faulty equipment is to blame. At least 15 homes in Calabasas were also experiencing outages.
