Unruly Man at Malibu Pier

A ranger reportedly attempted to detain the man.

A disturbance at the Malibu Pier prompted an escalating emergency response this morning, after a State Parks ranger reportedly attempted to detain a man near PCH.

The incident was reported around 10:30 a.m. today on PCH near the pier, after callers described a man in his 20s wearing a black shirt yelling to himself. No weapons were seen, callers indicated.

The call was upgraded to a Code 3 emergency response as the ranger moved to detain the suspect, with additional units requested to the scene. It's unclear if an arrest was made.
