Couple Killed in Early Morning House Fire

A couple married for more than 70 years were found dead inside their burning Lincoln Blvd. home on Sunday.

An elderly couple [died early Sunday morning](https://westsidetoday.com/2026/08/10/two-dead-in-santa-monica-house-fire-on-lincoln-boulevard/) after a fire tore through their home near downtown Santa Monica.

Crews with the [Santa Monica Fire Department](https://www.santamonica.gov/departments/fire) arrived just after 3 a.m. following reports of a house on fire on Lincoln Blvd. and 7th St. Firefighters found the house engulfed in flames, and after spotting a car in the driveway, entered the burning structure to search for occupants.

Two people were located inside and pulled from the home, but were pronounced dead at the scene, Division Chief James Altman said. No firefighters were injured, and crews remained at the home until morning to ensure the fire was fully extinguished.

The victims' identities haven't been released, pending notification of family. However neighbors said the two were an elderly couple, married for nearly 70 years.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
