T.O. Tax Preparer Sentenced to Federal Prison for $6.5M Fraud

Anna Quach filed more than 1,700 false tax returns, prosecutors say.

A Thousand Oaks tax preparer was sentenced to more than two years in federal prison this week, after filing more than 1,700 false tax returns for her clients.

Anna Quach, 50, was sentenced Thursday to 27 months in federal prison for aiding in the preparation of false tax returns, the U.S. Attorney's Office said. She was also ordered to pay $6.48 million in restitution.

Prosecutors say that between 2011 and 2024, Quach prepared 1,734 fraudulent federal tax returns for clients of her firm, AQ Financial, also known as A2Z Tax Solutions. The returns included losses from businesses that didn't exist, which Quach used to offset her clients' incomes, as well as fake deductions for medical expenses and charitable contributions.

The false returns significantly reduced the taxes her clients owed the government, officials said.

Quach pleaded guilty in February to the tax charge, along with one count of wire fraud.
