Temescal Gateway Park Reopens

The park has been closed since the Palisades Fire.

Temescal Gateway Park reopened last Friday, for the first time since the Palisades Fire.

The park has been closed for 18 months, serving first as a staging ground for firefighting operations, and later as the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers' central command site for debris removal across the Palisades, [MyNewsLA is reporting](https://mynewsla.com).

Starting at 8 a.m. Friday, hikers will regain access to the rebuilt Rivas Trail, which connects to Will Rogers State Historic Park, as well as the Sunset Trail, restoring routes to Temescal Ridge and Topanga State Park. The Sycamore Grove and Rubell picnic areas will also reopen.

And the park's most popular destination remains off-limits: the Temescal Canyon Trail to the waterfall will stay closed indefinitely, with officials citing unsafe conditions from fire damage.
