Vape Ignites Small Brush Fire on Kanan Dume

A group of teenagers reportedly put out the fire.

A small brush fire on Kanan Dume Road Saturday night was sparked by a discarded vape, apparently tossed from a passing car, [KBUU is reporting](https://malibu.fm/story/teens-spot-extinguish-small-brush-fire-on-kanan-dume-road-20260822).

The fire was spotted by a group of teenagers, who called 911 and then put it out themselves. They stayed at the scene until they could flag down responding firefighters.

The fire burned well off the pavement, about a quarter mile north of the Malibu city limit.

Officials listed the fire's size as a quarter of an acre, though it reportedly appeared smaller. No injuries or property damage were reported.
