Water Theft Reported

A city inspector reported a man stealing water from a fire hydrant.

Deputies responded to a reported theft in progress near Sundown Rd. and Rimrock in Thousand Oaks around 1 p.m. today, after a subject was allegedly seen siphoning water from a fire hydrant.

A city inspector reportedly spotted the man using a hose to funnel water from the hydrant into a backyard. The inspector and a coworker were said to be waiting nearby in city vehicles with their lights on. It's unclear if anyone was taken into custody.
